Ninetydays
An Unparalleled Global Design Challenge and Exhibition for The ICFF
May 15 – 18, 2004
Ninetydays is a global design challenge and exhibition
bringing together the progressive ideas of nine of the world’s
most promising and gifted international designers.
Conceived by British designer and Creative Director Phil Nutley,
Ninetydays will showcase nine one-of-a-kind furniture designs that
not only celebrate the conceptual thinking of these visionaries,
but spotlights the fast and furious guidelines of a challenge like
no other. Nutley, an accomplished furniture and brand designer as
well as a frequent exhibitor at the ICFF, International Contemporary
Furniture Fair, sent nine contemporaries from nine cities around
the globe an unparalleled challenge: to create a cost-effective,
collapsible piece of furniture and ship it to New York inside a
large FedEx box within 90 days of receipt of the project brief.
What they created was strictly up to them, but the final product
and construction had to adhere to the following:
• BUDGET could not exceed $200 (or equivalent)
• EACH DESIGN must support the weight of a person up to 200
lbs (90 kgs)
• CONCISE INSTRUCTIONS must accompany the design in order
to assemble it for exhibition
We invite you to come and experience the work of these innovative
visionaries at an exhibition entitled UN_FOLD, to be unveiled
during the ICFF from May 15 – 18.

UPDATE: They're here! All nine fedex packages made
it to their destination. A big thank you to all nine designers for
meeting the deadline.
And now, let's UN_FOLD! (pics)
