In the 1980s, AMY ARBUS captured urban fashion culture in her monthly feature, “On the Street,” in the Village Voice. This fall, the entire decade is being squeezed into her third book, On the Street 1980-1990. As she explains to Joy Merrifeld in “Once Warriors” (page 72), “I was searching out the young fashonistas who were coming up with original ideas.” Arbus, a contributing photographer to New York, People, and the New York Times Magazine, has had 15 solo exhibitions worldwide, and her photographs are part of the collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
